Heating and cooling in Port Credit

Port Credit HVAC service from ZK Mechanical covers the village at the mouth of the Credit River: furnace and air conditioner repair and replacement in the houses, fan coil and heat pump service in the condos, and water heaters in both. If you are pricing a new furnace, a high-efficiency replacement runs $4,500–$7,500 installed, and a furnace and air conditioner done together typically run $7,500–$11,500. Repairs start with a $90–$150 diagnostic that is credited to the work, and most finish between $150 and $800. Our shop is in Burlington, about 25 minutes west on the QEW, and Port Credit is one of the lakeshore communities in our Mississauga service area.

Port Credit's housing splits into three kinds of job. The older streets on either side of Lakeshore Road hold pre-war cottages and post-war houses on narrow lots, many with a low basement, a single return and a furnace squeezed into a space built for a smaller one. Between them stand recent custom infill homes with two-stage equipment and HRVs, and near the waterfront and Hurontario Street are condo towers and townhouses on fan coils or in-suite heat pumps, where who pays for a fan coil repair depends on the condo's declaration. Part of the old village west of the river is a heritage conservation district, so we confirm with the City of Mississauga before placing a vent or condenser on a street-facing wall.

The lake decides how cooling should be sized here. Port Credit sits in Lake Ontario's humidity all summer, and an oversized air conditioner satisfies the thermostat and shuts off before it has pulled the moisture out, so the house reads 23°C and still feels clammy. We size to the calculated load, favour two-stage or variable-speed equipment that runs longer at low output, and add a whole-home dehumidifier at $1,500–$3,000 installed only when the house stays damp after that. Lake air and QEW road salt also corrode condenser fins, which is why a coil rinse belongs in every spring visit; Alectra Utilities supplies the power here and Enbridge the gas.

Why ZK Mechanical in Port Credit

New-furnace decisions made with numbers

The rule we use in Port Credit: once a furnace is past 15 years and needs a heat exchanger, the $1,500–$3,000 that repair costs is better put toward a new unit; under 12 years, an igniter or flame sensor at $150–$450 is an easy yes. Furnace installation in Mississauga explains sizing, venting and the permit.

Vent and condenser placement planned for narrow lots

On a Port Credit lot the side yard can be little wider than a walkway. Furnace vent terminations need clearance from windows, the gas meter and the lot line, and a condenser needs airflow and a neighbour who can still sleep. We walk the outside of the house before quoting so the price includes a route that will pass inspection.

Condo fan coils and in-suite heat pumps

Tower suites fail on blower motors, control valves and blocked condensate pans, not on burners. We service the equipment inside the suite and arrange access and water shut-offs with the management office ahead of the visit. Our condo HVAC service page lists what we can and cannot touch in a shared building.

East on the QEW, regular rate on weekends

We leave the QEW at Mississauga Road or Hurontario Street, about 25 minutes from the shop outside rush hour. Evening, weekend and holiday calls on the 24/7 line are billed at the weekday rate. Give us the street and the age of the equipment and we will say what we expect to find.
